Anthony
Like most kind, smart and handsome men in Dublin, Anthony actually grew up in the west of Ireland and it was here that he gained his appreciation of history, beauty and the finer things in life. Growing up two of his favourite activities were history and talking. The non-stop talking could make him a quite annoying eight year old but he likes to think that he’s grown out of it. Following on from his childhood interests he want to Trinity College, gained a degree in History and Politics and spent his free time involved in the college debating society. Today he enjoys nothing more than telling stories about Irish history, so if you want to know more about this country’s past, he’s you man. But be careful, because once he starts there is no telling when he’ll stop.

Chris
Chris first discovered history at the tender age of 8 in 3rd class of primary school, and has been hooked ever since. He spent much of the next 3 years of his life reading the tales from Ireland, becoming a particular fan of Setanta and the Red Branch Knights. This early love of simple Irish stories developed as he began to study World War 2 in depth before reaching secondary school. Upon entering second level aged 12 classical studies took his fancy, Cuchulain and his Red Branch Knights were replaced by Achilles and his Myrmidons. Story telling became politics, and politics became economics. Just 3 months from his final exams in secondary school he took up Religion adding a third historical subject to replace maths, which he was always doomed to fail. Despite travelling and seeing all of Europe one city has always held a special regard in his heart. Apart from history Chris’ main interests are public speaking, comedy and debating. He is currently studying Law in University College Dublin, and hopes to complete his degree in the next 10-15 years.

Dave
Dave was born and bred in Dublin more years ago than he cares to remember or admit to. A lover of good conversation, cheap wine and rocking music, he could talk the hind legs off a donkey on any number of subjects. His slightly extreme views on Jack Black have made him a number of enemies, but he continues to plough that particular furrow, safe in the knowledge that he will one day have the last laugh. Dave also plays the drums and loves Marillion.

Eoghan
Eoghan is a charismatic and dashing Dubliner who likes long walks, arguments and drawing attention to himself while talking. He just finished his degree in English and Drama at UCD so as you can imagine he loves squeezing in a bit of Ireland’s literary history between the weighty Vikings and the impoverished Celtic Tiger and the odd cheeky performance to emphasis a point.

Gavin
Born and raised in Cork, Gavin studied English and Sociology in UCC, and is a great lover of the English language. He lived and worked as an English teacher for 18 months in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he picked up a spot of Brazilian-Portuguese. On top of his love of Irish History, he loves travelling, visiting historical sites, debating about anything and everything over a glass of red wine (don’t get him started on films, seriously) and meeting people from other countries. So, on the tour he’s likely to corner you and throw questions at you like a curious 3 year old! Don’t let that scare you though, that’s his way of being nice! Gavin is a gent who gets bored very easily, so he remains active, loves cycling and hiking mountains. He is prone to outbursts of singing and dancing in order to remain the centre of attention at all times. He’s a great lover of music, so don’t be surprised if the a tin whistle makes an appearance on his tour.

Be careful, given half a chance Helena’s tales of Ireland’s myths and folklore might carry you long into the night.

Richie
Richie enjoys History, Debating, general nerdyness and referring to himself in the third person. He dislikes Seagulls, traffic and when his dad leaves the electric radiator on causing a small fire. He’s currently studying for a degree in History at University College Dublin, so he knows his stuff when it comes to the history of Dublin, including how Viking men enjoyed a good romance, why the ducks in St. Stephens Green can withstand an armed rebellion and why the Provost of Trinity College is one of the most heavily-armed academics in the northern hemisphere.
