Aoife - Dublin Tour Guides

Aoife

Aoife hails from the Garden country of Ireland, Wicklow, which is only a stone’s throw from Dublin. She couldn’t stay away from the lure of Dublin so attended school there and is currently studying in St. Patrick’s College to become a primary school teacher. Travelling and exploring new cultures is a passion of Aoife’s and she wants to show you the most interesting places around Dublin City on your walking tour. She was given the opportunity to study in Prague, Czech Republic, the heart of Europe, for a year where she first became a walking tour guide. Although her year abroad has ended, Aoife is back and ready to take on Dublin and its rich and dramatic history with you. In Ireland, primary school teachers are required to have a strong level of the Irish language so don’t hesitate for a moment to ask Aoife for a few Irish phrases to help you on your way along the Emerald Isle. Please feel free to ask plenty of questions that may help you to ensure you have a memorable trip in Ireland and enjoy all that we have to offer here!

Chris - Dublin Tour Guides

Chris

Chris first discovered history at the tender age of 8 in 3rd class of primary school, and has been hooked ever since. He spent much of the next 3 years of his life reading the tales from Ireland, becoming a particular fan of Setanta and the Red Branch Knights. This early love of simple Irish stories developed as he began to study World War 2 in depth before reaching secondary school. Upon entering second level aged 12 classical studies took his fancy, Cuchulain and his Red Branch Knights were replaced by Achilles and his Myrmidons. Story telling became politics, and politics became economics. Just 3 months from his final exams in secondary school he took up Religion adding a third historical subject to replace maths, which he was always doomed to fail. Despite travelling and seeing all of Europe one city has always held a special regard in his heart. Apart from history Chris’ main interests are public speaking, comedy and debating. He is currently studying Law in University College Dublin, and hopes to complete his degree in the next 10-15 years.

Richie - Dublin Tour Guides

Richie

Richie enjoys History, Debating, general nerdyness and referring to himself in the third person. He dislikes Seagulls, traffic and when his dad leaves the electric radiator on causing a small fire. He’s currently studying for a degree in History at University College Dublin, so he knows his stuff when it comes to the history of Dublin, including how Viking men enjoyed a good romance, why the ducks in St. Stephens Green can withstand an armed rebellion and why the Provost of Trinity College is one of the most heavily-armed academics in the northern hemisphere.

Stephen - Dublin Tour Guides

Stephen

Steve is a born and bred Dubliner. Having lived, worked and studied in his home city all his life he’s passionate about Dublin’s long, turbulent and quirky history. A self-confessed politics nerd and lover of American TV, Steve first caught the sightseeing bug on a trip across Europe one summer. Ask Steve anything nerdy about Irish politics, and you’re sure to get an answer. For our American friends, test his knowledge of the West Wing! Steve likes to keep it Irish and when he’s not nursing a pint of Smithwicks, you’ll find him mulling over the works of great Irish writers such as his all time favourite, WB Yeats. But please don’t ask him about James Joyce, Joyce hurts his head. As a proud graduate of UCD, Steve particularly enjoys letting it rip at the Trinity stop of the tour – you’ve been warned!

Sinead - Dublin Tour Guides

Sinead

Even though Sinead is a proud Wicklow gal and will take any opportunity to send you off to do some tourism in the Garden County, if you look closely into her background, you’ll see that she spent much of her childhood in Switzerland and France, which is where she gained a love of smelly cheeses and extravagant wines. But don’t be fooled, this girl’s international background will overshadow neither her love of storytelling nor her passion
for Irish history: she is the grand-daughter of an Irish Volunteer and will proudly boast about his 1916 medals if you take too much of an interest in that part of the tour. She’s also a language graduate so loves to show off her linguistic skills and she adores Irish poetry especially WB Yeats but be warned if you’re on the pub crawl with her, she can’t stand people who put blackcurrant in their Guinness.
